My GP is the very first one in production, & it's overweight, even without cdi. Oxai made a number of mistakes on mine & there were some parts missing. I reveived the plane early this year, & should have waited much longer before ordering. By the way, I still have not had a chance to fly it yet ... 
I was never much of a fan of cdi. Yes, it does give you a bit more torque, smoother transition & uses less fuel. However, when it started to have trouble, you will be chasing a ghost - it could be the spark plug, the electrode, the sensor, the cdi box, any or all of the above. All of my regular 170/ 175/ 185 runs great, & can easily be diagnose should something out of the ordinary happen.
