Chinese Taipei request for individual participant to be allow ..
Dear Horace and Sandy:
I realized that everybody is busy, I don't want to waste anyone's time and repeatly ask odd questions. But this issue has become a hot potato and is burning up our RC web page in Taiwan. You can take a look for yourself (link below attached). Jimmy is taking a lot of heat in this because some of the Aeromodelling people who had attand 2008 F3A competition in Taichung cannot understand why Chinese Taipei has 6 competitor attanded that meet (3 team member + 3 individual competitor) and we cannot open 6 slots for them in this meet 2010 AOCC for F3C.

I understand that from Past history 3 AOCC for F3C stand point, you do not have individual competitor attanded, and I am assuming that you(F3C) and the CIAM do not want extra individual competitor attand to put extra work on the judging team. But please try to see it from our view point, the organizer will have to put in a lot of work for an international championship at this scale level, we will be needing a lot of man power and every one doing RC aeromodelling in Taiwan is expected to chip in. We cannot afford a fight now to weaken our strength. Plus their request is not unreasonable, they want to join as individual competitors, their score will not count as National team score, we will have to claim who is national team member and who is not before the competition.
I did look over the whole SC4_Vol ABR_10.pdf section 4B (attached), the rule has put no limitation on individual participants, only on National Team as you have stated. (correct me if I am wrong!) hense I have summerized the rules into a ppt file as attached in the last mail I gave you and I am attaching it again this time.
From an organizer's view point, we want more participants to attand our competition, first to make it a popular competition, 2nd to balance our budget, 3rd to fulfil and educate our own competitor, sponsor and general public. Hense the request!
There are multiple other examples in FAI santioned championship that allow individual participants to attand a catagory 1 (world & continental) meet, some has clearly defined rule giving the maximum numbers of participant a meet can hold, and usually the individual participant join through the waiting list after all the nation team has registrated. Some like the 2008 F3A AOCC in Taichung, did not give any reason at all and let individual patiticipate as long as they got their NAC agreement/ sporting licience.
Therefore, I urge you not to take this request lightly and just say "No". Please discuss this issue throughly in your committee or even amonst the Bureau members, and give us a formal reply. We would want to know "why not?" when most other class or disciplanes of airsport "can". Or if it is F3C tredition to not take individual competitors, please say so and we will try to respect that. Or you will want to change the AOCC to a "limited international contests for National team only" <rule B.2.2 & B.2.3>, or perhaps that is an misinterpretation of mine out of my bad english.
I hope to work in harmony with all parties to a great sucess for this 2010AOCC.
