GT-R DRIFT BATTLE
GT-R Battle Class brought out many good-looking Skylines to the track. However, this was about drift battle, and the GT-R's were ready. Using a special double-elimination bracket, the GT-R drivers had two chances to reach the podium. Eric Rosales took full advantage of the second chance after losing his first battle in Best-16. Eric's aggressive and high-speed style was on display as he worked his way one battle at a time up through the second-chance bracket. In the final he met a regular podium driver in Marc Marquez. Both drivers showed their high skill level, as they took the GT-R Battle final to SIX sudden-death battles before Marc made a fatal mistake, allowing Eric to win it all.
OPEN DRIFT CLASS
Forty drivers battled side-by-side in the Open Drift Class, including four from Northern California and a pair from Las Vegas, Nevada! Only three drivers would take a spot on the winners circle, and at the top was Tim Hallock. A long time coming, Tim has been in the top-3 before, but this was his first RC DriftClub competition where he was at the top, passing Sang Nam who secured second, and one of our NorCal visitors Ariel Abalog rounding out the top-3.
As a side-bonus, the results of our Open Class bracket will be used (instead of qualifying) as a seeding list for the HPI Racing (another one of RC DriftClub's sponsors) event to be held early May at the D1 Grand Prix in Anaheim, CA. So if you did well today in Open Class, you have an advantage at HPI's event in May.
