My dad told me that a helicopter is what blades it uses. I did not really understand this until I ran into some serious dynamic blade balance problems. After my dad and I exhausted all the tweaks we could think of, we decided to swap several sets of blades for AB test. The result was astounding. Blades made big difference in terms of tracking and flight performance. This prompted my dad to in-depth study of blades. I would like to share with you what we found out.
我爸爸告诉我直升机的大浆决定一切。我一直没有真正理解这一点直到有一次遇到严重的大浆动态平衡问题。我们试遍了所有能想到的调整都无济于事,最后决定换浆。结果让我们非常震惊。大浆本身对双浆和飞行性能影响极大。于是我们对浆的性能做了个深入的了解,在这里与大家分享。
I used to help my dad to measure blades’ weight and center of gravity. Now I know that there are three categories of blade measurement, namely dimensional, static and dynamic which affect blade performance. The balance of these measurements between the two blades in the pair is just as important, if not more, as the measurements themselves.(see chart)
我曾帮我爸爸测量浆的重量和重心,现在我知道有三类测量指标影响浆的性能:尺寸,静态指标,动态指标。也许一对浆的这些指标的平衡比指标本身来的更加重要。(见插图)
The dimensional measurement includes length, width, thickness and overall profile. I recall that my dad bought a pair of glass fiber blades. Out of the box, they were at slightly different dimensions.
尺寸测量包括长度,宽度,厚度和截面形状。记得我爸爸曾经买过一对尺寸不太对称的玻纤浆。
The static measurement includes weight, center of gravity, static lead lag, bending stiffness and torsion stiffness. I have a pair of carbon fiber blades with dynamic tracking problem caused by imbalance of bending stiffness.
静态测量包括重量,重心,静前沿滞后,弯曲钢度,和扭区钢度。我有一付碳纤浆,总是动态双浆,后来发现是弯曲钢度不对称引起的。
Dynamic measurement includes dynamic balance, power efficiency and servo load. The servo load is highly influenced by static lead lag angle.

Generally speaking, stiffer blades are better for hard 3D flight and less stiff blades are appreciated by graceful F3C pilots. Regardless stiffer or soft, they need to be balanced in all aspects.
一般说来,钢度强的浆适合于剧烈型的3D飞行,钢度弱的浆更受优美的F3C飞手青睐。不管硬还是软,一付浆的各项指标的平衡是最重要的。
Next time if you can not get your blades to track properly all the time, look at the blades themselves!
下次如果你发现无法使你的大浆在各种飞行条件下都无双浆,建议不妨查一下您的大浆!
